President Biden made Juneteenth a federal holiday

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865 when slavery finally ended in the United States, two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. Biden made the once-regional southern holiday a federal holiday.

Tallahassee Story:

“President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris celebrated Juneteenth a little early.”

“A little more than a week before June 19, the president and vice president celebrated Juneteenth on Monday, June 10, with a White House concert featuring singers Gladys Knight and Patti LaBelle and rapper Doug E. Fresh and hosted by comedian and actor Roy Wood, Jr.”
